Don Bosco Technical College

Don Bosco Technical College was opened in June 2007. Our mission is to offer youth of Hwange high-level education opportunities at symbolic price, enabling them to gain skills required at the local labour market. College office is open from Monday to Friday between 8.00 am and 4.00 pm.

Offered courses:
Currently, Don Bosco Technical College offers three courses:
* Computer Science (daily and evening classes)
* Clothing Technology (daily)
* Brick and Blocklaying (daily)

Daily courses last from 7.45 am to 1 pm, from Monday to Friday. Evening classes in Computer Science take place on Monday, Wednesday and Thursday from 5.30 to 7.30 pm, and on Saturday from 9.00 to 12.00 am.

CLOTHING TECHNOLOGY - this course lasts 2 years. First year begins in September and prepare students for National Foundation Certificate in Clothing Technology, which is passed in November the following year. After N.F.C. students are supposed to begin Industrial Attachment, lasting from December to April. Later they come back to school to prepare themselves for National Certificate in Clothing Technology, which they pass in November.

In the first year students attend following subjects:
* pattern making (theory and practice)
* garment construction (theory and practice)

In the second year syllabus is broadened by additional subjects:
* textile studies (theory and practice)
* business studies
* project

The graduates of Clothing Technology course are able to successfully apply for jobs in clothing industry, open their own business or teach clothing technology in secondary schools.
COMPUTER SCIENCE
BRICK AND BLOCKLAYING course is divided into 3 one-year long parts:
* first prepares for National Foundation Certificate
* second is Industrial Attachment
* third ends up with National Certificate exam

National Foundation course is offered to students during the third and fourth year of secondary education on full-time basis. To apply for National Certificate course one need to have either a minimum of 5 'O' level exams passed, National Foundation Certificate or equivalent.

The duration of particular subjects is as follows:
* craft theory - 90 hours
* workshop practice - 200 hours
* associated subjects - 50 hours
