It was a cinderella story come true when Don Bosco Technical College made an indelible mark in the hisory books by scooping a 100% pass rate in its first ever HEXCO examinations in all the 3 courses it offers. The atmosphere was ecstatic as Fr. Chota broke the news to the expectant ears and pumping hearts of the students.
On the 22nd of June we welcomed a new arrival in the community... well... more of a homeward return of someone who is already a part of Don Bosco Hwange - Bro. Simba Oscar Muza. With great joy he commenced his practical training and will hopefully be around for two years, helping in the school, oratory and parish.
On 26th of May we celebrated great feast of our Lady Mary Help of Christians. On the same day in our Community Don Bosco we organized farewell for Father Chester Lenczuk who, as a vice- provincial, has transferred to Zambia and is going to stay there for the next few years.
On the 15 May 2009, the Salesian Family will begin the Novena in Honour of Our Lady under the advocation of Mary Help of Christians. The novena aims at preparing the central feast which is celebrated every year on the 24 of May. The occasion of the triumph of the Christians in Lepanto over the enemies of the Church and the liberation of Pope Pious VII from the captivity ordered by Emperor Napoleon made the Church to celebrate the 24 of May as the day of Our Lady Help of Christians.
On 15th to 17th of May Don Bosco Technical College will be very busy. More than 50 girls from St. Teresa and Holy Family parishes has came to Don Bosco for Girls' Camp. We hope everybody will enjoy the following program which has been special prepared for our visitors.
On 30th of April we have started Dominic Savio CAMP at Don Bosco Technical College.This camp is aimed to boys since 9 up to 15 years old, from St Teresa and Holy Family parishes at Hwange. Boys are going to attend the following program!
Now that we have concluded the 26th General Chapter, which was a real Pentecost for all of us, we are ready to experience and celebrate an new event of grace: the 150th anniversary of the foundation by Don Bosco of the Salesian Congregation.
Our world today, as ever before, desperately needs liberation. Today’s headlines are filled with bad news- recurring wars raging around the globe, famines devastating entire countries, environmental catastrophes, natural and man-made disasters, abject poverty holding entire nations in its grip, violent crimes increasing in spite of man’s efforts to deal with them – the litany of tragedies is endless.
